Ready for an adventure? Join us and be prepared for some outdoor activities, with learning something new, a picnic, and good company. Our Summer Quarterly is being held at Egwanulti Farms, 996 Salmon Falls Road, Rochester, NH. Salmon Falls Road intersects with Walnut Grove Road (a class VI road).

Venue Maps

We will have ample parking but remember to leave your Rolls-Royce at home because we’ve got over a half mile of class VI road to travel. Though most cars will have no trouble at all, your low-slung Corvettes and other super cars will not appreciate the rural nature of Walnut Grove Road.

The day consists of three events. During the second event, there will be an Executive Committee grilled picnic! The food provided will include burgers and hot dogs, potato salad, chips, and cookies, along with an assortment of drinks including bottled water and soda. If you have been looking for an excuse to show off your culinary skills, you may bring a favorite dish, side, or dessert, to share as well. If you are doing so, please note this when registering for planning purposes.

Please Note:

  • We are expecting a perfectly sunny day, but if rain is in the forecast, the event is still on, just be prepared to bring a raincoat or umbrella. We are planning on having at least one tent on site and will solicit additional EZ-Ups if necessary.
  • Since there is no seating on the farm, please bring your own lawn chair if you would like to sit at various times.
  • Other items to consider bringing include sunscreen and tick repellent, a pen and paper, and clipboard to take notes.

Event One: Army Corps of Engineers

The morning event includes an exhibition from members of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, 368th Engineer Battalion rapid deployment construction surveying unit, based out of Londonderry NH. These young soldiers will show us a little about what surveying means from the Military side of the USACE. They will be demonstrating some combat readiness, engineering, procedures, and combat survey layout methods.

Event Two: Sun Shots, Lunch, Vendors

We are planning to set up some theodolites and total stations, outfitted with the proper solar filtering, and we are going to do some “sun shots.” We will also discuss the theory of celestial observations, why we did them, and how to do them even in today’s GPS world. We are expecting folks will have plenty of ahem…”war stories” during the day.

As this event will be more casual to go between the sun shots, lunch, and vendors, this gives members the opportunity to get lunch hot, as the grillers work to feed all, as well as giving the vendors time to speak with the members. This is your chance to mingle with sponsors and get your surveying questions answered by members from Eastern Topographics and Spiller’s.

Event Three: Survey Olympics

It has been almost five years since we hosted our last Survey Olympics, so this summer, we are bringing them back! The major difference this time around is everyone gets to participate, not just the “seasoned guys.” It is going to be a mix of something old, something new, and something straight up fun. Be ready to put your skills to the test at this running of the Survey Olympics. Knowing the old techniques could come in handy in retracement surveys.

Parking: There will be signs on the farm leading members to where to park, as well as pointing you to each event.

If you have an item you would like to donate to either the Foundation fundraiser raffle or a door prize, please bring it along. Door prize tickets will be inside your badge.

Join us in congratulating the Spring Scholarship recipients during the Summer Quarterly Business Meeting! The Foundation Trustees have awarded two Moran Family scholarships and one Richie Ladd Memorial scholarship. Our hope is that the recipients can attend.
